1 – Can you tell us about your project?

Between 2015 and 2022, I completed numerous long-distance walks in Italy and across Europe. In 2022, after a personal crisis, Smart Walking was born with the goal of combining passion and work. I decided to split my days in two: walking 4–5 hours in the morning and working in the afternoon as a sales manager in the video production sector. Since March 9, 2022, I have crossed all 20 Italian regions along the main national routes. Each year the project has evolved: Smart Walking Coast to Coast in 2023, Smart Walking Back to the Roots in 2024, and in 2025 the 90 stages of the Italian Via Francigena as official Ambassador of the AEVF. Over two thousand kilometers traveled from north to south, combining territory, work, and walking.

2 – What is your main mission?

Smart Walking aims to propose a concrete model of remote work based on planning, autonomous time management, and the pursuit of a true balance between life and work. Walking is not just movement: it is a way of approaching life with slowness, awareness, and clear goals. The project promotes a new concept of work-life balance, overcoming the dualism between “only passion” and “only work,” while enhancing relationships, territory, and personal well-being.

3 – How did you get to know RedElk and what led you to collaborate?

I needed clothing that was comfortable, lightweight, and technical—something that wouldn’t weigh down my backpack but was also aesthetically refined. While searching online, I came across RedElk and was immediately struck by the design. Once I wore the garments… wow, I can confirm that the comfort they have been known for in recent years is noticeable from the very first use.

4 – How helpful is RedElk to your project and in what ways does it support your activities?

RedElk has been a key partner for Smart Walking. It has accompanied me through all seasons, from north to south Italy, facing a wide variety of temperatures and weather conditions. I needed both warm and waterproof garments, as well as lightweight and breathable solutions for walking under the sun. If aesthetics won me over at first, it was the technical quality that truly surprised me.

5 – Which values do you feel you share with RedElk?

We share the belief that comfort is an essential element for truly experiencing the outdoors. For someone who walks eight months a year with a backpack on their shoulders, every detail matters: even a small discomfort can become a long-term issue. Quality, functionality, and concrete attention to the real needs of those who live in nature are values that I feel are fully aligned with my project.

6 – How important is comfort for you and for the people who take part in your initiatives?

For someone who walks for consecutive months, comfort is decisive. It is not a detail—it is a necessity. Clothing must allow freedom of movement, protection, and lightness, without distractions.

7 – What value does the familiar and genuine approach that RedElk maintains with its partners have for you?

Over the years, I have had a constant relationship with the RedElk team. Massimiliano from the marketing department even came walking with me, and I met the ownership during the major walking routes fair in Milan. It is a direct, genuine relationship based on real sharing.

8 – Do you have a special memory or episode experienced with RedElk that you would like to share?

Every journey is a special episode: from stages under the southern sun to the colder days in the north, RedElk has accompanied me, always ensuring protection and comfort, allowing me to focus solely on the path.

9 – What is the most beautiful or meaningful impact you have noticed on people thanks to your activities?

Smart Walking has been revolutionary for me and aims to be so for others as well. It has given visibility to inland areas, villages, and cultures often forgotten. School meetings and collaboration with Strade Maestre have offered young people a different vision of the future—more focused on relationships and less on consumption.

10 – Looking to the future, what new projects or activities would you like to develop?

After four years of walking, the Cammino dei Nomadi Digitali was born: a 110 km circular route in the province of Caserta, designed not only to be walked but truly lived. The goal is to transform the journey into a way of temporarily inhabiting inland territories, working remotely and creating new forms of community. An innovative project that goes beyond the traditional “walk, rest and go” model.
