1 – Can you tell us about your project?

Free Wheels was born from the personal experience of Pietro Scidurlo, our President, who underwent a profound transformation during the Camino de Santiago. From that experience came the desire to offer other people the same opportunity for renewal and awareness. Today, Free Wheels promotes accessibility in slow tourism, overcoming physical and mental barriers and demonstrating that the Camino can be an experience open to everyone.

2 – What is your main mission?

Our mission is to affirm that inclusion is not just a value, but a strategy for the future. We work to make the Caminos accessible to everyone, regardless of individual needs. When we talk about accessibility, we are not referring only to disability, but to a broader concept that includes families, people with temporary needs, seniors, and anyone who wishes to experience a Camino journey in a conscious way.

3 – How did you get to know RedElk and what led you to collaborate?

Our meeting with RedElk came about thanks to Danilo Genovina, a long-standing brand Ambassador. There was immediate chemistry, which led us to present our project to RedElk at a time when we needed support. Since that first meeting, RedElk has never left us on our own, accompanying us even in challenging projects such as reaching altitudes above 2,000 meters.

4 – How helpful is RedElk to your project and in what ways does it support your activities?

For us, RedElk is much more than a technical partner: it is a family that has welcomed and supported us over time. It has provided complete equipment for our members, ensuring quality, protection, and reliability in every project. From a technical standpoint, the garments have proven particularly suitable even for people with reduced mobility or thermoregulation difficulties, offering comfort and safety throughout the Camino.

5 – Which values do you feel you share with RedElk?

We share fundamental values such as respect for people, passion, perseverance, and resilience. We believe in the strength of the group and in authentic collaboration. In RedElk, we found the same attention toward people and the territories we cross, as well as the willingness to face every challenge together.

6 – How important is comfort for you and for the people who take part in your initiatives?

Comfort is a crucial element for those undertaking long Caminos. Fatigue and adaptability are part of the journey, but equipment must be optimal to allow each stage to be faced in the best possible conditions. This applies not only to materials, but also to cut and fit, especially for those with different accessibility needs or reduced mobility.

7 – What value does the familiar and genuine approach that RedElk maintains with its partners have for you?

The familiar and genuine approach is a fundamental value for us. Just as hospitality is central along the Caminos, in our relationship with RedElk we have found listening, openness, and the ability to find concrete solutions. It is a relationship that goes beyond the commercial aspect and is based on authentic connections.

8 – Do you have a special memory or episode experienced with RedElk that you would like to share?

A moment that encapsulates the meaning of our collaboration is the annual appointment at “Fa’ la cosa giusta!” in Milan, where every year we meet again and renew our bond with the RedElk team. A simple gesture, but for us a symbol of affection, trust, and continuity.

9 – What is the most beautiful or meaningful impact you have noticed on people thanks to your activities?

Since 2012, Free Wheels has helped over 10,000 people embark on a Camino experience. Every person who approaches the project confirms that we are on the right path. Today, we are one of the few organizations in Italy specialized in the professional and competent mapping of accessible routes.

10 – Looking to the future, what new projects or activities would you like to develop?

We always look to the next Camino as the most beautiful one. In the coming years, we will return to Umbria on the occasion of the anniversaries related to Saint Francis of Assisi. We will continue to develop new inclusive projects, hoping to keep walking together with our partners and travelers, always with RedElk by our side.
